So sadly the Simply Bare Kraken did not hit like the Mind Flayer for me. The buds were mostly in great shape on opening the jar. There was some really nice and strong aromas of citrus and earth. There was some very good external colors to the bud but it was a bit concerning that the inside was fairly brownish. The trichomes were quite well developed and had a nice balance of clear and milky with more golden inside. The stems did feel too soft when opening up the buds unfortunately. There was good moisture to them so they weren't too moist but something was clearly thinking about happening. It oddly though ground a touch dry, not quite maintaining a good texture. On smoking it kept the citrus flavors but also had some gassy and sour flavors at the start. It was a bit harsh from the sour element but got smoother as that sour note faded. It'll be very interesting if that goes away as the ground flower sits for another day. It finished quite well with earth coming back to replace the sour and a more herbal element replacing the citrus. The high was definitely a creeper for me, with both mind and body heaviness just slowly building. I did check against a sample preroll given to me from the Rubicon rep in case the sour was a sign of something. It was there just not nearly as strong as freshly ground, so that does seem to be a consistent flavor I could taste. I still like the Mind Flayer quite a bit more but this wasn't a disappointment at all.

Excellent choice, one of the nicest I’ve ever had. I tried their mind flayer and thought it sucked. The kraken I found was fantastic.
